  • 3 TBS bacon fat
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 head large cabbage, shredded
  • 1 ½ cup chicken stock
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Tabasco sauce
  • 1 TBS sugar
  • 1 strip bacon, chopped
  1. Melt bacon fat over medium heat in large, heavy skilled with cover
  2. Add onion and sauté until lim, about 5 minutes
  3. Add cabbage and sauté for 5 minutes
  4. Add remaining ingredients, mix well, and cover; reduce heat to low and simmer until cabbage is done, about 25 minutes. Serve hot

Serves 6-8
