Guaranteed to add an exciting smell and taste throughout the house!
Ingredients:
- 2 cans root beer
- 4 tsp pepper jelly
- 4 tsp Tabasco sweet & spicy pepper sauce
- 6 whole cloves
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1 bay leaf
- peel & juice of ½ orange
- peel of ½ lemon
- 1 10-12 pound cured, smoked ham
- ¼ cup dark brown sugar
- ½ tsp dry mustard
Instructions:
- Combine first 8 ingredients in large saucepan; bring mixture to boil; then lower to simmer; cook about 30 minutes
- strain mixture and reduce liquid to about ½ cup; refrigerate if using the next day
- place ham on rack in disposable aluminum pan
- make shallow cuts in crossing pattern on top & sides of ham
- use just enough glazing sauce to completely cover the surface
- combine brown sugar and mustard and pat all over ham
- put ½ cup water into bottom of pan
- bake ham at 350° for 3 ½ to 4 hours, or until it inserted thermometer reaches 160°. baste every 15 minutes adding more water as needed
- remove from oven and allow 30 minutes before carving
