Chocolate Mousse

Death by chocolate.  This dessert is for chocolate worshipers!

Ingredients:

  • 8 1/2 oz. semisweet chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 egg yolks
  • shaved chocolate for garnish
  • powdered sugar for garnish

Directions:

  1. Melt chocolate in top of double boiler
  2. Stir in vanilla and salt; set aside to cool slightly
  3. Whip egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form
  4. Whit cream until stiff peaks form
  5. Blend yolks into the melted chocolate
  6. Gently fold in the whipped cream and egg whites
  7. Spoon mixture into individual dessert dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours
  8. Garnish each serving with shaved chocolate and powdered sugar

Serves 6-8
