Old recipe dating back to the early 20th Century. . .

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups raw oatmeal (rolled oats)
  • 1 TBS flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Into a bowl, combine oatmeal, flour, salt, and sugar
  2. Pour very hot butter over mixture and stir until sugar is melted
  3. Add eggs and vanilla, stirring well
  4. Spread aluminum foil over a cookie sheet
  5. Drop ½ TBS of dough 2” apart
  6. Cook at 325° for 11 minutes; allow cookies to remain on foil to cool; they won’t stick
  7. Once cooled, place in air tight container as they will become limp

Makes about 3 dozen cookies
