Great to substitute for shortcake with strawberries

Ingredients:
- 1½ sticks butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 TBS pure almond extract
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
- ¼ cup of slice almonds
- 2 tsp sugar
Directions:
- With electric blender or mixer combine butter, sugar, and eggs (one at a time)
- Add flour, salt, and extract until thoroughly mixed
- Line a 10” iron skillet with heavy duty aluminum foil with excess over sides
- Pour cake mixture into skillet
- Sprinkle almonds on batter and press lightly
- Sprinkle 2 tsp sugar over almonds
- Bake in preheated 350o oven for 35 minutes
- Remove from oven and allow to cool; remove from skillet, disposing foil and place onto serving dish
