Sicilian for ”fixed bread”. Nice change from the traditional garlic bread. Delicious with salads and pasta. . .
Ingredients:
- 1 16-ounce loaf French bread, cut in half horizontally
- 3 TBS olive oil
- ¼ tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1 5-ounce package Romano cheese, grated
- Brush sides of bread with olive oil; sprinkle bottom half with pepper and cheese
- Reassemble loaf, wrap in heavy-duty foil; place on baking sheet
- Bake at 350° for 25 minutes
Makes 1 loaf
