Pane Cunsado (Garlic Bread)

Sicilian for ”fixed bread”. Nice change from the traditional garlic bread.  Delicious with salads and pasta. . .

Ingredients:

  • 1 16-ounce loaf French bread, cut in half horizontally
  • 3 TBS olive oil
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 1 5-ounce package Romano cheese, grated
    Instructions:
  1. Brush sides of bread with olive oil; sprinkle bottom half with pepper and cheese
  2. Reassemble loaf, wrap in heavy-duty foil; place on baking sheet
  3. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes

Makes 1 loaf
