Not certain as to the originator of this delicious recipe; but believe it has roots to the early 20th century. . .



  • ¼ cup hot water
  • 2 packages powdered yeast
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 TBS sugar
  • 1 TBS salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 cups flour
  • ¼ pound melted butter
  • ½ stick melted butter
  1. Into a large bowl, place hot water and sprinkle yeast powder over top of water; drop eggs into mixture and used electric mixer and medium speed
  2. Add sugar and next 3 ingredients, blending well
  3. Using spoon, stir in ¼ cup of melted butter; cover bowl with dish towel and place in warm spot in kitchen for about 30 minutes, until it doubles in size
  4. Lay out dough on wax paper, flour surface and dough generously, applying some flour to your hands; knead and roll out to ½” thickness; dip in melted butter
  5. Place end over end into ring pan to about half full; allow to rise 30 minutes
  6. Place in preheated 350° oven for 45 minutes, until top of bread is brown

Makes 6 small ring pans or 4 large ones
