Cornbread

A very hot black ironed skillet is the key.  Don't forget to spread butter on that hot cornbread!

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 heaping TBS cornmeal
  • 2 heaping TBS flour
  • 1 TBS sugar
  • 1 TBS baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
    Directions:
  1. Put vegetable oil into a small black iron skillet and heat until very hot
  2. In separate bowl combine cornmeal and next 4 ingredients
  3. Add egg and milk and mix thoroughly until somewhat smooth
  4. Pour batter into skillet and cook 20 minutes at 425° until lightly browned
