This is a good representation of New Orleans’ Palace Café’s delicious appetizer
Ingredients:
- 2 Golden Delicious or Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into bite-size pieces
- 5 fresh roasted garlic pods
- ½ cup brown raisins
- ½ cup golden raisins
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- ½ stick butter
- 1 TBS olive oil
- ½ tsp garlic salt
- 1/8 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 TBS sherry, brandy, or Grand Marnier
- 6 rounds of brie cheese
- Curly leaf lettuce for serving bed
Instructions:
- Combine apples, garlic, raisins and pecans into a bowl and mix well
- In a skillet, melt butter with olive oil and add garlic salt and next 4 ingredients; simmer for 2-3 minutes; combine with apple-raisin mixture
- Bake brie rounds in a 350° oven for 10-12 minutes
- Assemble the cheese on bed of lettuce and place other ingredients around and over the cheese; serve hot
